Terrifying visions torment Starra. Lost moments of time and flashes of images too horrific to accept fill her with icy fear so complete she can’t escape it. With too many unanswered questions, she needs answers. Now. It’s her only hope if she wants to save what’s left of her shattered mind and soul.

Unlike Starra, Mina cares nothing for her soul. Damned long ago, she’s too scarred for redemption. There are people meant to enjoy lives of love and family and friends. Mina isn’t one of these people. Her life is in the shadows, unafraid of the dark... until she realizes that something lurks in those shadows, something that wants to tear her apart.

One never knows what the darkness hides...

I was hooked by the blurb and the cover (yes I'm a blurb and cover whore... better add teasers into that list as well). Unfortunately this is one of those times where I was kind of disappointed becuase I expected SO much more.
This was the first time I'd read a Kim Deister book.
I love dark, suspenseful reads. The more twists and turns and aggravation with not knowing yet needing to know.. that's me in a nutshell. My very favorite stories... and I am on an ever exploring journey for the next read that fits.
Last Night was one of those books that I was sure was so sure was going to be added to that list, however the beginning, I just couldn't get into it. There was a lot of repetition.  Especially in the first couple of chapters. There was Starra and her POV, blacking out, not knowing...and there was Mina, an assasin, going after those who've wronged the wrong people. I could tell within those first couple of chapters what was most likely happening, which isn't a big deal. The fact you kinda know what's going on doesn't impede the story. But it does get old with Starra being so repetitive. I kind of started to dislike her. Mina was kick ass. Loved that character.
There were some twists that were very well played, seemingly coming out of nowhere.
Last Night was enjoyable overall. It was well written, engaging, entertaining. I really wanted to love it, but I did like it.

Kim Deister was born and raised in a tiny town in the wilds of northern New York that is less than six hours from the Arctic Circle, a pretty college town called Potsdam. She grew up in a family of lawyers and teachers and bucked all the traditions to run off and wear combat boots in the US Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst (no jokes!) and a linguist. She also worked as a tech writer for Corning Glass Works, which was an entirely different kind of writing.

Living the Army life has allowed Kim to travel all over and much of that has seeped into her books. She has a love of strong female characters, tropical places, and flipping traditional themes on end. She loves that words can take one out of the existing world and let the unimaginable become imaginable. When she’s not writing, she’s probably on the beach, with her nose deep in a book.

ARIES by Gemma James, Blog Tour with Rachel's Review

ARIES (THE ZODIAC QUEEN #1) by Gemma James Release Date: October 1st
Price goes up on day 4!
Twelve men. A virgin queen. One arranged marriage.
The first time I met the boys of the Zodiac Brotherhood, I was forced to my knees for the introduction. Still grieving the death of my parents, I was a child queen, a pawn in my uncle’s agenda for wealth and gain. As my guardian, he had the authority to arrange a marriage upon my eighteenth birthday.
That meeting took place six years ago. Now those boys are powerful men. Twelve virile men that want to own me.
And I must spend a month with each one. Bending and yielding to their desires and commands. Shedding pieces of my innocence so long as my virtue remains intact.
Because they want a virgin queen after the last month concludes, and my uncle plans to auction me off to the highest bidder.
Out of the twelve men, only one has my heart. And only one can claim my hand in marriage. If only it were up to me to decide

Gemini ($2.99)
Aries is not my first Gemma James book.  I'm happy to say I've read everything she's put out.
Aries is the beginning of a series of novellas that will take Novalee throughout the Brotherhood of the Zodiac, ensuring that she spends a month with each "brother" while at the end, one of them will get to call her his own.
In Aries we meet Liam Castle, the Chancellor on Zodiac Island and Sebastian, both of whom Novalee remembers from her childhood. Liam, Aries, gets her the first month and ohhhh swoon.  His naughty is hiding somewhere, I'm sure of it. His penchant for spanking allows him a bit of kink, but mmmhmmm he's a sexy ginger, for sure.
Sebastian shows himself as an ass, but is he? He's that bad boy everyone hates to love.
Gemma has asked, since the release of Aries, #TeamLiam  or #TeamSebastian  I say #TeamSandwhich please  LOL
Gemma's writing is always top notch. Her words suck you in, take you on a journey, oftentimes kinky-Thank you very much!
Aries does what it's supposed to. It's a great beginning to a whole new world. A world with lots of words by Gemma James for me to look forward to. It's a great start up, with a look into a few of the "brothers" and her ass of an uncle.
I cannot wait to see where she goes.. Tuarus, Mr Bordeaux's story, is one I'm sure I"m going to love.
He seems to have a very big problem with Novalee's disposition as well as a penchant for the dungeon.

Title: Make Me Fall

Author: Ember Leigh

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Make Me Fall:

There’s one rule in my family.   Stay away from the Daly brothers. We were raised to know them as users. Manipulators. But I only ever saw Connor as the enigmatic senior hottie who dropped into fifth period to teach us about the perils of drunk driving.   So when my first big girl job out of college ends up with us working at the same company, it’s heart throb city all over again. Except he’s way ahead of the game. Successful, talented, put together. I’m just a frumpy twenty-something in a quarter life crisis who doesn’t know a glue stick from a makeup highlighter.   He would never want me, even though he’s all I ever wanted in secret. So when we cross paths one night at the bar and one drink leads to another, he slaps me with an offer I can’t refuse.   Accompany him back to Bayshore, flight included.   Only stipulation? Pose as his girlfriend.   Our families will flip, but I’m not strong enough to say no to those baby blues, especially if it means I’ll have a chance to spend the next two weeks with my adolescent heart throb.

Make Me Fall by Ember Leigh is a story about a quirky girl who doesn't care much for appearances and her crush who also happens to be from her hometown.  Kinsley is a girl who doesn't have a lot of self-confidence but who also knows who she is and doesn't apologize for it.  Connor Daly is from a family of achievers and he strives to be better than his brothers, even if it doesn't make him happy.  Connor needs a buffer when he goes home for a visit and what better way than with a fake girlfriend, the fact that she comes from a family that is his families enemy is only the icing on the cake.  Connor and Kinsley develop a friendship that soon morphs into so much more.  But when they leave the bubble that they have been living in to return to their real life, the question is can their relationship last or will Connor walk away because Kinsley isn't the arm candy that he should be with?  Kinsley and Connor have a chemistry that is palpable on the page and the reader is enthralled waiting to see if they will make it or if their romance was merely a vacation fling.
