Sanctuary of mine was the first book I read with a subject matter like this. The description of the diseases was so detailed that you felt as if you were watching a movie. My eyes didn't stop watering thought out this book. I felt as if I was on a roller coaster on emotions and I couldn't put the book down until I finished.
We started out with Mackenzie (Mack) Deeks in her junior year of a new school. She likes to go through her day invisible. She has no friends and she likes it that way, no one can let her down. In the hole one day Mackenzie see a student being bullied by some jocks. She feels for the student and decides to step in and help Levi. Levi become her closet friend and trusted confidant throughout her life. Mackenzie and Levi were struggle to get the jokes to stop bulling and Tyler Redding swooped in to help. Tyler Redding is the hottest boy in school. Mackenzie was shocked that Tyler new her name and new who she was.
Tyler Redding is a senior in high school and play footy ball in school. Tyler's goal in live is to play for a professional team. When Tyler come looking for the other jokes on the team he see the girl he cant get out of his head. Tyler can tell she is struggling with some sort of eating disorder but that doesn't change the way he feels about her. After many stolen glances and random run in Tyler finally get the courage to ask Mack out.
Mackenzie and Tyler begin to date after a slight disagreement. Three years later tragedy strikes and everything changes. Will Mackenzie relapses or can Tyler and Levi help through her struggles?
This book was an eye opener to a disease that many people don't talk about. The details of the disease describe in this book was something I have never read before. I highly recommended you grab your copy of this book.

TYLER ‘You can’t go on living like this. This is the old you. The you before you promised me that you’d never do this to yourself again. I love you so much and can’t watch you do this to yourself.’ ‘Well then leave!’ Her stale breath hits me. The feral tone that spews from her mouth smacks me straight across the face. Her words sting like a bitch, but I’m trying not to take it personally. ‘You don’t mean that. You love me too, I know you do.’ ‘Do I?’ Petulant eyes stare me down. I swallow hard. Why is she being so damn difficult? ‘Well if you don’t love me, damn well pretend Mackenzie! Because each and every second I’m not with you is like torture for me and I can’t accept that you don’t love me enough to want to let me help you get through this.’ Her expression softens just a little, but it’s enough to let me know I’m making headway. Levi is still standing in the bathroom doorway, the quiet spectator while all our back and forth is going on. In my sternest voice possible, I issue her an order. ‘I’m going downstairs. I’m going to put the kettle on and make coffee for all of us. I’m going to make you a sandwich, which you’re damn well going to eat. Then we’re going to talk about anything you want to talk about, but whether you like it or not, we are going to talk. We’re going to talk until it doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m here for you and I’m not going anywhere. Levi is going to help you get cleaned up and you’re not going to give him a hard time about it. I know you’re hurting, Mack, but we are too. Your pain is our pain.’ I kiss the tip of her perfect little nose before rising to leave. Levi’s eyes lock with mine, respect silently offered as I make my way out. ‘Tyler!’ I swivel around, Mackenzie’s desperate plea grounding me to the spot. ‘Yeah?’ ‘I do love you, you know.’ Tears trickle down her cheeks, falling into the bath water as though they are the most inconsequential thing in the world. They aren’t, though. They’re everything. It means she isn’t far enough gone not to feel anything. ‘I know you do, baby, I know you do.’
