I wouldn't recommend reading this book as standalone. To really understand Beth, you need to read Tease book one first. That being said, I found this story to have a ton of potential, but it seemed rushed. There were some steamy sex scenes in there, but the storyline just wouldn't play out for me properly. The plot for this book felt more like filler, and when speaking on such an profound subject as rape, I think it should be treated very carefully.

 We have Beth Masters, a 20 year old pop star who falls victim to rape. In the process of trying to find her own way to cope with the trama, she turns to alcohol. While club hopping and partying her troubles away, she meets Roman Hale. Roman is a man of his own secrets as well. Throughout the story Roman tries to be a pillar for Beth who doesn't understand why. After quite about of the pushing back and forth they finally get to the fact that Beth was raped. Once Roman is aware of this, he slows down in his pursuit of her but doesn't stop it. The book wraps up with the makings of a happily ever after in a cliffhanger style. I may need to read the first book, Tease, in order to appreciate this book more, but as it stands, I'm left wanting more. Hopefully book 3 will give that to me.
