Amelia Grey is like a queen of the historical genre. Her books are always entertaining and really easy to read. They flow like a refreshing, carefree stream, meandering through the wilderness.
Bray Drakestone, member of the Heir's Club, and rake extraordinaire is in his cups as is Lord .
They are racing down the street in the dark and fog when Bray hears a noise. It's Lord buggy. With his dying breath, Lord asks Bray to promise to marry his sister, Louisa and to take care of the rest of his family. WOW..pretty serious beginning.

A couple of years pass by with nary a word heard from the Duke of Drakestone, so Louisa Primm takes it upon herself to get her sisters ready to be presented to society, and hopefully find a marriageable chap. The Duke appears out of nowhere and asks her to marry him. Uhmmm nope, not happening. Louisa is about as happy as Bray that the promise was ever asked. So Bray leaves things such that Louisa will have to ask him to marry her... but in the meantime, he will see to it that they are all provided for. They become friends of a sort and the tango begins.
Wonderfully written, excellent characterization, which makes Amelia Grey's books a go to when you're looking for something a little different than NA mainstream these days.
