Wallflowers by CP Smith Release Tour, Rachel's Review

“Romance and poetry, ivy, lichens, and wallflowers, need ruin to make them grow.” ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

I simply adored this Wallflowers.
How fun...kinda sisterhood-ish.
These 3 girls all work for Poe Publishing and meet at the company picnic. They all have a penchant for old romances, sexy leading men and landing in hot water.
The first in this trilogy is about Calla Lily Armstrong.  Yep, you got...a flower name for a Wallflower, how fitting.
Calla's book fave is The Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens and as such..she meets her own Devil.
She is quirky, funny and deep down, oh so sad.
She just happens along a nearly naked, sweating, grunting, piece of hunky man meat while strolling through the courtyard and the pieces fall into place.
Devin Hawthorne...yes, as in the writer..and Devin, so close to Devil...it's meant to be.  I loved his possessive alpha streak...and the way he went after what he wanted, even though they'd known each other only 5 days.. How he takes into consideration what Cali had been through, the way she is, and what he think she'd do in any given situation results in his heart leading his head a little more so than ordinary.
What I LOVED about this story was the rom-com tossed in with a little romantic suspense, tossed about with a hint of murder mystery and of course some romance.
CP Smith writes so well, so smoothly that the story just flows. The transitions between comedy and mysters are done so well you're laughing one moment and gasping the next.  From hilarity to disbelievability.
With a full cast of fabulous characters I simply can't wait until we get the next addition to the Wallflowers story...be it Poppy or Sienna...

4 Stars

( and is it so wrong that every time I read the About the Author for CP Smith I want to burst out is song... Ooooooo-klahoma where the wind comes sweepin down the plain....)
