Penalty by Jacob Chance is a book about college football, falling in love, and navigating a relationship that is new while keeping your goals in view. I am a huge fan of sports books and I was looking forward to the story of Brady Lincoln and Harlow.
Harlow and Brady meet at a party, something that is a rare occurrence for Harlow. Pretending that she doesn't know who Brady is when she accidentally bumps into him doesn't stop her from thinking about him for days after their chance meeting. Little does Harlow know that Brady cannot stop thinking about her either.
Brady's MO is to snap his fingers and girls of all ages come running, and no sooner than the disposal of the condom does he forget their name. But once he meets Harlow, his life takes a 180 and he wants more with a girl for the first time and will do whatever he can to have a relationship with her.
I felt that the story was rushed and underdeveloped. The big moment toward the end of the story that I thought would bring more angst and issue was almost treated as if it was no big deal and within a few pages, it was already forgotten. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the story as much as I thought I would have due to the plot falling flat.
