Greyson East left his mark on me.
As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.
Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.
When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.
I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man.
The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.
When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only.
He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.
But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.
I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

Wow! Brittainy C. Cherry is one of my favorite authors and as I just finished Eleanor and Grey I remembered exactly why. Brittainy has a unique way of taking a reader to a sadness that you can’t imagine, even bringing tears to your eyes ( I cried 4 times while reading this book) but then slowly building you back to a place of happiness and a truly real happily ever after (not the story book kind).

Ellie was the “weird” girl in high school that most kids made fun of, but not Grey. He saw a light in Ellie that made his sadness and loneliness just a little more bearable. The friendship that they develop is slow and unique and grows to something neither one of them imagined...until one day Ellie’s world falls apart and she leaves Illinois. Just when Ellie is at her lowest and about to drown in her sorrow, Grey appears and with his silent comfort keeps her from drowning. Life and distance gets in the way and Grey and Ellie lose touch. Years later they come together when Ellie interviews for a nanny position, taking care of Greys 2 daughters. But the Grey that Ellie meets is a shell of the boy she knew and all she wants is to bring it back.

Grey List his wife in a tragic accident that has almost destroyed his family. Trying to cope he becomes a workaholic hardly spending any time with his two grieving daughters. And then Ellie walks back into his life and begins to heal all three of them with her unwavering support and unconditional love. Their journey is not easy, in fact is downright difficult. They are separated emotionally by the walls Grey has put up, his behavior and then actual space. But Ellie never stops being their for Grey and his girls and just when he begins to heal, he realizes that she is the light that is leading him back to a happiness he thought was gone forever when he wife died.

This book is a must read! I haven’t read a 5 star book in a while and this one brought me to tears and made me smile and gave me hope that their is always room for forgiveness and it is never too late to repair a broken relationship.
