Boyfriend Bargain by Ilsa Madden-Mills is a story about falling in love, with my favorite background story...sports...in this case hockey. Sugar Ryan yearns to get into law school so that she can show her father's family that she is good enough, and the only way to do that is to attend the same law school that he did. But despite her amazing grades and LSAT score Sugar is on the wait list. She needs to figure out a way to give her an edge over the other wait listed students and that is Zach Morgan. Zach Morgan is a hockey player on her college team that was drafted by the Predators, joining the NHL after graduation. Since the admissions counselor is a huge Zach Morgan fan, all Sugar has to do is get Zach to pretend to be her boyfriend and she is in.

Zach Morgan doesn't do relationships, for so many reason than just being busy with hockey. With a past whose guilt still plagues him to this day, he can't have any more distractions, until this nerdy girl starts showing up everywhere staring at him. When Zach finally confronts Sugar she tells him what she needs, a fake boyfriend, specifically him in order to get into law school.

Zach agrees to Sugar's proposal, despite his head telling him otherwise. What Zach doesn't expect is to fall for Sugar. But the twists and turns that take place during their "fake" relationship only bring them closer together and farther apart at the same time. This story is heartwarming and moving and has the reading feeling the guilt that Zach feels, his anguish and Sugar's need to prove that she is good enough.
