Donovan Kennedy is the girl dreams are made of.
Five years ago, she was our best friend.
Our moral compass.
The girl that held our hands everywhere we went.
The three of us were young. Innocent.
Nothing could touch us — not even heartache.
That was then.
Now she’s back. All grown up.
With red lips and long legs — a challenge waiting to be accepted. A prize that’ll turn our world upside down.
Brothers turned to enemies.
Friendships decimated.
Lies told.
Hearts torn apart.
We never expected to fall for the girl.
In the end, she’ll only choose one —Me.

Trilina Pucci is a new to me author and if this is normally how she writes? We'll become old friends quickly! haha.
While this is New Adult (not even close to a genre I usually read, I must have missed that in the description when I signed up for the arc) I couldn't put it down.
Liam, Donovan, and Grey were thick as thieves in their younger years (I say younger years when they're only like 17-18...geesh) and when she comes back, a senior in high school, she's every boys wet dream and most definitely not who Grey and Liam expected to see. They quickly became once again, inseparable and their love, an adult version.
I was hooked on the authors prose, her characterization which led to you forgetting (or I suppose not really caring) how young these characters really are. She writes the angst so well. The tension, the desire that emanates from each character is all you can feel. You forget that they're high school seniors (and as a mom that's a good thing because had my kids acted like that in high school I would have sent them to military school, haha)
There's some totally sexy times, there are times when you feel so sorry for these children that haven't been shown and sort of "normal parental love and caring", and there are times when you mutter "if you were my child I'd have spanked your ass and sent you to your room".
This author pulled no punches. She pushed these characters to find their way, choose their love, the rest of the world be damned. The choices, the hurt, the love. Friends, enemies, lovers. Vindication, revenge, these characters go full steam ahead in whatever they're feeling at the moment and you get that. The author makes you feel every single one of the emotions, the choices and their consequences.
Had this been about older, even just so much as early 20's I think it would have had a different spin. It would have been easier as an "adult", lol I wanted to say older here, reader to "enjoy" the sex and all the references to it. But that being said, I don't know if the characters being older would have negated some of that amazing angst that was so well done. The turmoil of the child finding his way to adulthood would have diminished if the character were a bit older, and it was so well done as is.
A great 4.5 star read for me... and I'm off to find another book by this author, but perhaps one with older characters so I can enjoy the angsty, darker, needier sexy times. lol
